Tonight I had a less than stellar post passover meal at Lucali.
First of all the place is poorly run. Nobody is in charge and nobody seems to know what they're doing.
We ordered 2 pizzas. The 1st pizza was not hot and the crust was a too soft. It was still good, just not great.
After waiting 25 minutes after we finished the 1st pizza we had to ask the manager (if that's who she even is) and the waiter multiple times what was going on. We had to get very upset in order to get some attention and get our pizza.
The 2nd pizza very good, it was hot and the crust was better, but not perfect.
For what they charge the pizza needs to be perfect, not just pretty good.
I was excited for lucali and bought into the hype & sensationalism, but in general after a 3 visits I'm disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it's good... Just not the greatest pizza ever ( at least so far).
I will be back, but if they don't get their act together soon Andiamo, Kings County, Steve's, & Harry's do a pretty good job at about 1/2 the price.
