Joined the hour-long queue at the insanely popular Barrafina on a Monday evening. By the time one gets one's seat at the bar, one would have probably had quite a few drinks and bar snacks along the way. Anyhoo, the tapas plates we had here (once we *got* our seats) were quite good actually:
- Chorizo, potatoes and watercress: slivers of greasy, tasty sausage with greasy, tasty potatoes. The watercress provided a welcome burst of green on our plate.
- Grilled quail with alioli: very scrumptious, well-cooked bird - as good as they come.
- Sardines a la Plancha: served hot, crisp and fresh. Didn't quite take to picking out the bones though.
Dessert: Santiago tart - moist, delicious. Loved the chopped nuts and preserved fruits which came with the cake. Don't miss this!
Professional and efficient service. Was the queue worth it? Um, not too sure actually - maybe okay for some folks who don't mind standing in cramped quarters for an hour or so on end. Not quite for me - I came back with my clothes smelling of grilled fish.
