My husband and I visited our old stomping grounds on the West Side of PVD tonight. We chose our anniversary dinner to be at Loie Fuller, as it was super nostalgic. We miss the neighborhood, for sure.
We sat at the bar, as we're inclined to do. Our bartender (I think his name was Curtis?) was awesome. He was really into making me some killer cocktails (and even made me loathe Laphroig a little less). We couldn't have asked for better service (and really, that gin/absinthe thingamabob was soooo sick!).
The food was up to par, but I especially dug the veggie/grits dish. I'm not sure if it's a seasonal thing, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. The veggies included cauliflower, kale, peas, green beans, summer squash, zucchini and parsley. My husband ordered an old favorite (ravioli).
Thanks, Loie Fuller, for making our special night so memorable. We wish you were closer to us in Central MA.
