In the Food Lion (now Bottom Dollar) plaza on Route 50 just west of Lees Corner Road in Chantilly, a latino place has moved into the space formerly occupied by -- in reverse order -- Taj Palace, the very oddly named Peking Sushi, and a chinese place that was at one time pretty good (Something Wok was the name, IIRC).
The problem at this Location of Death is clear -- the restaurant space is set back way too far from Route 50. If you aren't specifically looking for it, you'll never notice it.
Another "Location of Death" is the building on Route 29 in Arlington now occupied by the horrible Charley Horse Grill. The problems there -- in addition to the usually mediocre food of the tenants -- are (1) the building facing sideways, away from drivers heading east, and (2) a median strip that prevents an immediate left turn into the parking lot for drivers heading east. So pretty much half of the "let's try a spot that looks interesting" market is probably wiped out.
I'd like to know about other "Locations of Death" and why people think they are so bad.
