We stopped in the other night on the recommendation of a friend and were incredibly happy with the experience. Given the stylish, high-energy environment, I fully expected the emphasis of the place to be on cocktails and buzz, not food. I was wrong.
First, we loved the idea of the tasting menu, so that everyone could share and compare. Our party of three ordered a number of items off the globally influenced menu and loved them all, unanimously. (In fact, we all agreed that we wished we hadn't eaten such a late lunch because we wanted to sample more dishes.)
We started with the deviled eggs, which were delicious and smoky with a creamy and seductive texture. The fish tacos were AMAZING – the fish was light and tasty and non-greasy and blended perfectly with the rest of the dish. We also had the prawns, the chicken satay, and Bibb lettuce cups filled with diced peanuts, ginger and other spices, all of which sparkled with a sophisticated and well-balanced blend of flavors. We ended with the cheesecake lollipops -- bite-sized chocolate-covered confections that were a great finish to a terrific meal. I understand the chef recently got a positive review in the Chronicle – from what we saw it was well deserved. We’ll definitely be back!
