Lima's Taste (West Village) -- Very disappointing

Hungry Arthur | Jul 19, 2005 06:22 PM

Finally made it out to the new outpost of Lima's Taste last night and came away deeply disappointed. (I have never been to the East Village branch so please let me know if my comments below are not representative of that location!)

First of all, ceviche was bland! I never thought I would say that about ceviche Lima's mixto version lacked any of the typcical citrus bite you get from good ceviche. Also, the mixto (which was advertised as ac ombination of fish, shellfish, etc.) seemed to emphasize calamari tentacles. I love those as much as the next guy, but 75% tentacles does not a mixto make, in my mind.

The roasted mushroom and asparagus salad was borderline inedible, drenched in a dressing that tasted suspiciously like French.

Finally, the grilled ribs were undercooked. (Although the marinade would have been tasty on properly grilled ribs).

Not sure if they are working out early-day kinks or whether this is the best they get....
