LES Bakery?

Ackerman | Apr 27, 2004 10:16 PM

looking for a good bakery in the lower east side, around clinton / suffolk, preferably north side of delancey. i need a place where i can buy a nice baguete, or focacia, or rye (to mention a bread i am able to spell). been in the neighborhood for almost a year and can't find it. . .

incidentally, there is a nice little chinese bakery - VIP - that opened on Clinton st just south of rivington a few months ago. nothing spectacular, but they have the tasty red bean paste buns and twisty things, sesame balls if that's your thing, and the standard funky creations (ie. hot dog in a cinnamon bun, curry chicken in a pastry. etc) all for 60 cents a pop. a good place for a quick snack.
