Lemon Ricotta Pancakes at Cock-A-Doodle-Doo

Admittedly, it was a festive gathering of old friends, and admittedly, pheromones mingled with the aroma of chicken-apple sausage, but these were some kind of pancakes. I'm not your pancake kinda guy, fact is I had the chile relleno, a nice pasilla chile filled with a very mild cheese, topped with a couple poached eggs and swimming in black beans and a vegetable sort of relish. But geeze, these cakes were so light and fluffy they needed no butter, so lemony they needed no toppings, so marvelous that I was stealing pieces from everybody else. Pretty nice wrapped around a piece of Doodle-Doo's thick meaty bacon and dipped in some sour cream, too. Shared a little bit with Shaggy the Dog, he liked it too.

Cock-A-Doodle-Doo is on Washington between 7th and 8th in Old Oakland.
