Got a chance to try new Capitol Hill French offering Le Zinc tonight. Couldn't have been happier!
I knew they offered their mussels (4 different preps) for 1/2 price from 4-6 pm so figured I'd take advantage of that. Had the "moules forestiere" (w/ chanterelles, leeks, creme fraiche & dry vermouth) + frites -- delicious, and a large serving considering it's happy hour (granted I'm a light eater, but it was plenty for me and I couldn't even eat all the frites. Also -- that bone marrow aioli is rich and fatty and delicious!).
Couldn't decide what I wanted to drink and the bartender (Christopher) was wonderfully accommodating. He plied me with delicious Hemingway-era rum drinks for happy hour prices and everything was lovely (I especially enjoyed the Daisy w/ rum, yellow chartreuse & bitters). He was attentive without hovering. Perfect service, delicious food, intriguing cocktails. HUGE thumbs up from me. If I still lived in the neighborhood I'd be there ALL THE TIME.
