Le Fromentier, Pierre Chaput and APDC

Three bright spots on an otherwise dismal weekend in April. The store assistant at Pierre Chaput was so knowledgeable about the products and did not rush through the sale. Appreciated that he asked questions about my preferences before suggesting a cheese. Dinner at APDC - the most delicious onion soup. The soup was not overwhelmed by a rubbery glop of cheese on top, which is often the case. My only regret is that it was so good that I wasn't hungry for the main, the onglet. Ordered rare and I wish I had showed restraint with the onion soup so I could have enjoyed it! Frites were thin, tender and hot, with just the right amount of moistness (not grease), served in a paper cone. Had an early reservation because we had the 7 month old with us. Baby slept the whole time, and the place was casual enough so that we did not feel out of place towing him along. Capped off the weekend with a visit to Atwater to stock up until the next trip.
