Last night a group of us went to the Cabaret at Club 21 to listen to Gayel Vaughn. It was a great show, she is an excellent entertainer with a wonderful voice. My spirits were raised.
The show ended around 9:30, I dropped of my friends at their house and feeling a bit hungry, my daughter and I looked for an interesting place to get a bite to eat.
After discussing several possiblities because of her diet restrictions we checked out the Thai restaurant on J Street, which had just closed, went back to Club 21 for their Mexican food, they had just stopped serving, the Rubicon was too crowded and Hamburger Mary's turned the closed sign as we walked up.
So we ended up at Denny's, eating the same old stuff feeling disgruntled and dissappointed with the lack of anything really yummy to eat after 10 PM.
My daughter (32) tells me that this is the way it is here in Sacramento, even on the weekends, the partying crowd has no places to go for treats after a hot night.
I have great faith in you Chowhounds, if I am missing some really great late night spots, please enlighten me.
