My first post here, but I think I am a Chowhound type for certain. I live in Lancaster, and here are a few of my favorites.
A Loaf of Bread, across from lancaster train station. Besides baking wonderful bread using organic flours, Mark Miller is a wonderful man. He has talked with me about baking and offered to me to bake my bread in his oven if i bring it in just so i can taste the difference. Also, wonderful pastries made by Sophie
House Of Clarendon, Walnut st, Julie Bashore is a wonderful baker, delicious cakes, and pies. Love the lemon cake with lemon curd. Julie is English and has tea at the shop although i have never attended.
Stauffer's Kissel Hill store. The largest selection of seafood in town. Also many imported items not available elsewere. Large selection of organic items as well. They have more than some specilty stores.
Homefields farm Letort rd Millersville, run in conjuction with Goodwill industries, it provides organic produce to share holders as well as employment for Goodwill participants working on the farm.
Those ar a few, no mention of resturants here, perhaps another post later about them except to say i think ALL of the pa dutch buffet and homestyle places should best be avoided unless you want to load up on tastless calories
