Just got back from another "road trip" to Savannah. We drive up from St. Augustine and stay over a couple nights for the sole purpose of satisfying our appetite for the best food in the world at The Lady & Sons.

If you have never been there - it is a must - it is a landmark devoted to the love of food. This was our fifth time back to enjoy the best food in the world. I think this place has gotten even better than the last time I was there. Which seemed impossible!

Fried Chicken, Baked chicken, beef stew, collard greens, mac-n-cheese, string beans, sweet potato casserole, creamed corn, black eyed peas, lima beans, salad with homemade croutons. And how can you not just stuff yourself with the hoe cakes smoothered with maple syrup - cheese biscuits that really had cheese ooze out of it when you took a bite. Sweet tea with a mint leaf that before you got half way down was refilled. Dessert - if you have any room left - red velvet cake, apple cobbler, banana pudding, sweet potato pie.

On Sunday it was $12.95 each person. I would pay $40. a person for this food. You know it is the simplest food, but there is so much love put into it.

Then to top off our trip to my 3rd favorite city (Manhattan and San Francisco are tough to beat) we stopped at The Georgia Pig on the way back down I-95. For a bbq conisseour, this might not be the best place, but to me - It is the best bbq I've ever had. Especially when you are driving on I-95 and all you see is crap like McDonalds, Steak and Shake, Shoney's and other garbage.

Hey, and if you are staying in Savannah, we stayed at The Marshall House for the first time and loved it. We will be staying there for our next Lady & Sons adventure, which I think will be very soon. Mrs. Deen I love you.
