We very much enjoyed a recent dinner at La Tavernetta. Highlights were the Eggplant Rolatini special in an extraordinary tomato/marinara sauce and the pesto gnocchi. That said, we'd still opt for the regular menu gorgonzola gnocchi.
I think we've figured out the wine program here but the bottom line is there's complimentary "red or white". BYOB is acceptable though we never have.
Our only gripe would be the relatively tightness of the overall space although the tables are not "on top" of each other. There is a certain communal feeling to it all. The Chef/owner is native Italian and quite talented.
In the "Greater Forest Hills" area, this is our pick for best Italian, and one of the better in all Queens.
