Headed to La Superior in W'burg and placed a massive takeout order. Waited a good while at the counter and noticed a bad vibe from the four folks working there -- very territorial and lazy. They were half full, but it wasn't an 'all hands on deck' scenario. One server was busting her ass, while the other girl behind the counter sat back and only rang up the register when necessary. Keep in mind the place is tiny so she could have left her post without it being a threat, plus there were two other guys behind the counter that seemed to be more managerial who were in and out of the kitchen and BSing on the floor (not with customers, btw).
Anyway, I'll cut to the chase. The register girl undercharged me by $12. I pointed it out to her after checking the bill and my honesty was met with a blank stare. Seriously. I then explained the math to her and pointed out where she erred. In response, without speaking to me, she walked back to the register and rang it up again. She then returned and simply stated what I now owed her. And she was again wrong (and again undercharged!) -- she rolled her eyes and did it one more time. This time she fell short by $1.50, but I didn't have it in me to keep going at that point -- I just let them eat it. I was boiling because she never once said "thank you."
On the way out, I pulled one of the guys aside, confirmed he was her boss, and then informed him that I just saved him $10 yet didn't so much as receive the courtesy of even a half-smile from his employee. He was apologetic only in the too-cool-for-school, monotone sense -- "oh -- sorry."
Pretty crappy, esp. in this economy. They def need my extra ten bucks, but I don't need to be spending money on a business that casts an "I don't give a sh*t" attitude" right now.
Great food, lousy personnel.
