A friend and I visited La Serenata de Garibaldi (1st Street & Boyle) yesterday for the first time and we had a wonderful experience. Along with tortilla chips placed on the table were slices of warm cheese quesadilla. Entrees were chicken enchiladas suiza and the fish enchiladas. Both were served with rice (white) and pinto beans (in a light sauce, not typical refried beans) and potato soup to start (light and delicious). Dessert was pumpkin cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake (dense with a pecan crust)with a small scoop of chocolate ice cream, both served with sliced fresh strawberries on the side. Dessert wasn't necessary as the meal was so satisfying, but was delicious nonetheless. The presentation was very nice. They don't use lard, only olive oil in everything. Specialty is fresh fish. They make their own desserts. The ambience is lovely and the service was excellent. I understand they have 2 other locations - on Pico in Westwood and on 4th in Santa Monica.
