I went to La Lupe for the second time last night and was much happier than the first time.
We ordered the special (not on the menu): Elotes, con mayonese y Queso. What was it? Grilled corn on the cob with mayonaise and cheese, and add your own cayenne and oregano sprinkles. So good, why didn't I think of that combo?(This makes me want to go try the Taiwanese version rumored to be available in Flushing soon)
I saw listed under tacos Seso, and Tripa. I ordered them fully expecting them to say they're out. They had them, and both were superb. The brain was cooked just right, just before too hard; the intestine was fried crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Other taco items, Carnitas and bistecs were also done with care to the textures. The Pozole Verde was spicy and tangy. Even the tostados that came with the soup had wonderful beans and chips.
Well, I know the third visit will come a lot sooner now...
