La Grande Orange -- Phoenix

RR made a comment in a below post about always hitting the same fave haunts.

Lately mine has been La Grande Orange. See, I work from home, so meetings that aren't at a client's location can get tricky. Plus, my boss lives in Scottsdale and we like to get together for meetings rather than doing everything by phone. Because we can't EAT together by phone.

Enter LGO. It's the perfect spot for a casual meeting.

Surely, you all have some idea of the Craig and Kris DiMarco empire -- Postino, Chelsea's Kitchen, LGO, Tammie Coe Cake, dare I say Arlecchino for gelato, etc. I'm pretty sure they're going to take over the world, or at least Arcadia.

Anyway, order at the counter, they call your name and you're set to eat. In the past, there were just a few bistro tables on the sidewalk and small patio. With the opening of the LGO Pizzeria, you can now eat in that part of the restaurant. They don't start making pizzas until 4 p.m., so it's open seating with no wait service in the dining area all day long.

Nice and comfy and perfect during these few weeks before it's 1,000 degrees.

Lately, we've been meeting at 11 or 1, before and after the lunch rush. In the past 10 days, we've had:
Croque Monsier -- almost as good at the one I had at the Cafe Dupont in the 15th in Paris. Gooey with Gruyere, crunchy bread, salty with ham and great tomatoes.
Nicoise Salad -- a little untraditional, more of a deconstructed nicoise and made with a tuna salad that includes golden currants and capers. Kalamatas, potato, egg, asparagus on the side with a yummy lemony vinagrette.
BLT -- it's bacon, how can you go wrong.
Ooey Gooey Cupcakes -- delish! If it comes out of the fridge case, I like it better if I wait for it to come to room temp.
Cookies -- snickerdoodle is my fave. Chocolate chip is so rich and chocolately.
Spanish Latte -- oh my god! It'll make you wanna slap your mama. I'm not much of a coffe drinker, but this I love. It's espresso with milk and sweetened condensed milk for a sugary kick. Wow! It's rich.

Go, enjoy! But, try to go during an off time. I won't even approach the place on a weekend.

Have a great sunshiney week!
