"Kneaded Bread" in Port Chester

On an expedition to Port Chester yesterday we stopped in at the bakery, Kneaded Bread. First off, the place smells GREAT! The young woman who waited on us, delightful.

The breads have had mixed reviews here in the past, but there was nothing "mixed" about my choice. I was attracted to a plump, pillow-shaped loaf called ciabatta. I didn't try it until about an hour ago with breakfast, with what was left of a bottle of Ronnybrook Coffee Milk (good stuff). The bread is wonderful. The crust is chewy. the interior crumb yeasty and moist. The first hunk I tore off, I had with just some butter. The second, with good English preserves. I could happily dip it in olive oil too.

I don't know if this is a good example of a ciabatta, but I don't care either!

A word about Port Chester: Go. Park your car, and graze. It's a great food town.
