I was perplexed by Todd Kliman's review of Mourayo in the CP yesterday. After reading it I was left with the impression that he has a real problem with fussy, Gay, Greek restaurants. Or maybe just fussy, Gay restaurants- in which case I hope they don't let him take on the Rehoboth scene, he'll snap for sure.
I know he's not homophobic (great piece on Colorado Kitchen), but I sensed something prickly (pardon the expression) about his characterization of the decor, wait staff, food presentation and patrons.
So far I have been eager to read his reviews on Thursdays. He's perceptive, writes very well and knows food. In this review I was left with the impression that "real" Greek food is more manly than what Mourayo serves up. Maybe a whole lamb roasted on a spit, carve your own, all-you can eat, over an open pit in the parking lot.
Am I being too sensitive here.
