My report from my first (and last) experience at the new Kitchen and Cocktails in the lower east side last night:
The food is subpar and the service is somewhat clueless. We tried the oven roasted halibut, which was a sliver of fish served on top of brocooli rabe that was literally nuked in the microwave (it was mushy and bitter and mysteriously wet). We also had the nicoise salad, which was served with the saddest portion of tuna I've ever witnessed (the size of a playing card) and very unappetizing looking. The citrus chicken was ok, but not tender and had a residual bitterness to it. The only decent food we consumed was goat cheese fondue, but melting cheese doesn't require too much culinary skill, which the kitchen was found to be seriously lacking.
The mojitos are overpriced and weak - though they aren't as sweet as those you'll find elsewhere.
The service was nice but really clueless.
