Geisha, a newish bar near Chinatown in Oakland (316 14th St) now is serving food and it is delicious!
Went to a soft opening last week, and had a number of winning dishes:
Mac and Cheese- made with 4 kinds of cheese, porcini mushrooms and truffle oil. Better than heroin.
Kobe beef burger- meaty, flavorful, satisfying, not so greasy that it hurts your belly.
Tempura Salmon Rolls- crisp, not greasy, sushi-rare, high quality salmon, wasabi dipping sauce.
Scallop and Shrimp dumpling- tender, thin dough, nicely crisped on one side, clean sea flavors.
Dishes are areasonable $6-12 each (approximate) and the cocktails we tried were excellent
(esp. the Dragonfly, made with Bombay, fresh grapefruit juice, lime and a little tonic) and well-priced
($7). Check it out!
