I just read a blog entry on "My New Roots" about a dish the blogger wrote about a dish she brought to a pot luck picnic - here's a link, hope it works:
The dish was described as "raw pad Thai". The noodle part of the recipe is described as follows:
"Kelp noodles are a food made from kelp (a sea vegetable), sodium alginate (seaweed-derived salt), and water. They are gluten-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, protein-free, sugar-free, very low in carbohydrates and calories, and raw (check the label to be sure)."
OK, so she got me with the fat-free, cholesterol-free, sugar-free, low carbs & calories!
I haven't tried to find these "noodles" anyplace yet - but would really be grateful if anyone out there knows of a source - preferably on the Peninsula - from South San Francisco to Sunnyvale.
