Back home after my annual business/pleasure trip to NYC. In addition to our annual tradition of dinner at Lupa, lunch at the Grand Central Oyster Bar and a late night meal at the Carnegie Deli (all very good by the way), we ate at Keen's, Citarella and the Pastrami Queen. Dinner at Keen's (36th & 6th) was quite good. Our party of 3 had a mutton chop and the porterhouse for 2. The iceberg lettuce salad w/blue cheese was enough to split 3 ways. In terms of ambience, decor & service, Keen's is way ahead of Peter Luger's. Dinner at Citarella (50th & 6th) was also very good. The menu is somewhat limited and is pricey. I was hoping for a wider selection of seafood. We had branzino and swordfish. The upstairs dining room is formal, but comfortable. I had been to the Pastrami Queen (Lex. & 85th) once before and stopped in for lunch this trip. The pastrami sandwhich was better than I remembered, even better than the Carnegie. Bon appetite!!!
