Finally made it there this afternoon. I saw the sign and turned the car around. Great decision!
Everything was wonderful, the service, the soccer game (England and Argentina!) on the tele, cold beer and great salsa that was nearly as good as the verde salsa at The Talpa (however, don't really enjoy's Talpa's food much).
Tried the tamale with chicken and mole wrapped in banana leaves. One of the better tamales I can remember. I am looking forward to comparing this with the chicken tamale and mole negro at
Guelaguetza soon. The chicken in red mole was fantastic, too. And their rice was delicious-it actually had flavor, spicy, garlic, light, a nice surprise. Also tried the pork in verde mole to me. The style is new to me, but I enjoyed it.
I am from Washington state and the only good mole I had had previous to Juquila's was the homemade red and negro moles an aquaintance would make at an annual gathering. Each time I had mole at a restaurant I was terribly disappointed by how weak and passionless it was, nothing like the mole Jose made. I knew there was great mole out there, I just hadn't found it yet. Juquila's moles made me smile. I can't wait for my husband to come home and try the leftovers. I know he'll want to go after he tastes everything.
If you've been to Juquila's please recommend what I should try next.
