it is a great joy to discover this site and meet with so many people who share my love for all things edible!
When I first moved to LA I spent some time combing Monterey Park ("The Park") for a place for jook (porridge). I couldn't find it, everybody was missing some single thing, either it was watery or the you-tiao was cold or there was something else wrong with it. Does anyone have any recs?
I'm looking a place with a good selection, but my favorite kind is the "lean pork and preserved egg" jook, and I like it served with fresh you-tiao (deep fried batter sticks)
