Jin Ling Closes/Naan 'n Curry Opens in Elmwood; For Your Jin Ling Needs: Moraga's China Moon

I walked by Jin Ling in the Elmwood District of Berkeley yesterday and noticed that it was closed and had been bought out! And the tenant coming in? None other (or should I say "naan other"?) than Naan 'n Curry. N 'n C told me they should be opening in about 9 days from today. I'm a little surprised that there will be two Naan 'n Currys so close together (there's another on Telegraph), but it must mean the the Telegraph location is doing really well.

As for Jin Ling, I am sad to see my favorite East Bay Chinese restaurant close. As far as I know there are no immediate plans to reopen elsewhere.

For anyone craving some of Jin Ling's dishes, my boyfriend and I discovered a restaurant in Moraga called China Moon that has many of the same dishes (and my boyfriend would argue that some are better). The best is spicy chicken with basil (very similar to Jin Ling's original preparation - it changed slightly over the years), and the menu includes other Jin Ling faves like sesame chicken with honeydew (and many others I can't remember right now but have the same names).
