Jerk Chicken

Does anyone know of a place that has good jerk? I have been to Jamaica and had jerk at several places recommended by islanders--Rocky's in Negril was most memorable. While there, I also found great jerk at little road side pits made from halved-oil barrels. I was told the secret was the spice rubs as well as using pimento wood for the smoking (or "jerk") process.

However, I have never had good jerk in LA. I have eaten at Cooley's, Derricks, the old Jamaican Cafe, Cha Cha Cha, etc. but the closest I had to real jerk chicken was years ago at (the now closed) Cava. It seems that the jerk chicken I have had in LA seem more like "Baked Chicken-Jamaican Style" or "chicken with Jamaican spices" rather than real jerk. They have been dull, generic, and watered down versions at best.

Is there a place in LA that makes real down home jerk ? I WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR ADVICE.
