Jazz Bistro, Missouri City

We enjoyed brunch today at this very attractive new place in the shopping center at Dulles and Cartwright. For several months it appeared to be sort-of-but-not-really open as the Jazz It Up Cafe, then appeared closed for a little while, and has just reopened. The food is Cajun/Southern/soul, and they have live jazz on Friday and Saturday nights. Today's brunch buffet included smothered and baked chicken, smothered pork chops, and various breakfast foods, and all were delicious. I remarked to Ivory, the gentleman who welcomed us (the owner? not sure) that I had heard their ribs were excellent. He beamed and insisted on bringing our party some of those ribs (delicious "wet" ribs with a spicy sauce), mac and cheese, red beans and rice, and outstanding peach cobbler--none of which were on the buffet, but I think all are available on the menu. Service was prompt and pleasant, and we will be back for more of those ribs and the peach cobbler. They have things like Cajun ribeye and various seafood dishes on the menu, and even boudin balls as an appetizer.

Nobody (well, maybe Perrier now, with Aura) has been able to make an upscale adult restaurant last for very long out here. I hope many in Fort Bend County will check out the Jazz Bistro. My husband and I certainly plan to go back.
