Restaurants & Bars Boston Area

Jasper Returns!

When Jasper's closed a few years ago, there were many sad diners in the Boston Area. The restaurant had not fallen out of favor but Jasper had decided it was time to fold the tent. He actually tried to sell the business but the word is the landlord torpedoed the deal. I predicted his stint with Roger Berkowitz would be short and it was. Jasper White will soon be opening his new restaurant in the old location of Aku Aku. If you are going east on RT #2, it is on the right just before you go over the bridge at Fresh Pond. It is also on the Red Line at Alewife.

He has promised simple comfort food without much pizzazz. Roast Turkey, Corn Dogs, Burgers, Seafood, Beef etc. I happen to be a big fan of this type of food. When done properly, it will rival any of the new cooking styles that have become popular. Also on tap are some of the old favorites like Pan Roasted Lobster and the Grilled Duck Salad.
I don't have any menu specifics but we had first hand assurance that the Burgers would be made fresh and the Fries will be made from fresh potatoes.

Jasper is committed to supporting the "Local" food community, which means the fixings will be …,.Home Grown…. when possible. I think this is a good thing as we have so many small Mass. food businesses offering some great products. One of their Showcase Events is Mass. Marketplace. It is held at the Elm Bank Reservation in Dover. I think it is in August but not sure.

I am sure we will be seeing many Chowhound posts about this new eatery in the near future. I hope to be one of the first.
