Saturday night, party of 7 with kids. Treated the little ones fine, with complimentary Mardi Gras beads and sauce on the side for the pasta. Even turned the music down when they noticed them covering their ears!
"Alligator cheesecake" very similar to a quiche, as noted previously. Only mildly spicy, but quite savory. Fried oysters with Brie not as perfect as from late, lamented Tramps Cafe, but had acceptable crunch-to-juice ratio.
No draft beer, but Abita and Magic Hat in bottles.
Overall caloric content of dishes reminded me of recent trip to Metarie, LA, specifically Copeland's Cheesecake Cafe. Fried, cream, oil on everything. Blackened redfish swimming in cream sauce. House salads consisted of spinach liberally coated in Asian-flavored dressing (sesame oil, touch of anise?). Fried soft-shell crab special sat on a couple of slices of fried green tomato. Carpetbagger steak plenty juicy, as was "overnight marinated" touted fried chicken. Tasty enough, nothing to dream about, and woe to you if you try it before the Met!
