Ivo & Lulu's

Went to Ivo & Lulu’s tonight, newish place on Broome between Sixth and Varick. It’s run by the same people who run A up on Columbus and 106th.

Very friendly cook/owners. Small menu--three regular apps, three entrees, and one special of each. We started with a grilled avocado stuffed with a mushroom/tamari puree, pear with blue cheese melted on top, and a pheasant pate with brie (the last was very rich, but I thought perhaps the least successful—still good, though). Prices for apps were 6-8, entrees were 10.

Dinner was rabbit sausage, smoked chicken breast in a slightly creamy sauce, and a duck leg confit with jerk sauce, the last two served with raisin-studded couscous. Dessert was a small but rich chocolate espresso tart. Wine was BYO. They are veggie friendly, and even pointed out which dishes they could prepare vegan.

A fun and relaxed atmosphere, and good food--I would definitely go back.
