ISO East Bay bakery that will sell unfinished cake for me to decorate

When I lived in SF Destination Bakery on Chenery made -- and filled with chocolate cream -- a fabulous vanilla butter cake that I cut and frosted myself for a birthday cake. Noe Valley Bakery also had good pricing and tasty cake as a backup.

I have no idea where to start looking for an alternative in Oakland/Berkeley/Emeryville and would really appreciate any suggestions for a source of a good butter cake. I'd like something made with actual butter, sugar, etc., i.e. the good stuff I would use myself to bake at home. (Never mind that I'm going to coat it in a heinous commercial fondant.) I already asked La Farine and they don't do unfinished cakes.
