Or does Norm's suddenly have a pretty good apple pie?
I've recently had it both at the La Cienega branch and the Lincoln branch. They were similarly good, though the Lincoln branch is a teeny bit better. A genuinely flakey, nice crust.
This is totally weird, because the rest of Norm's food is basically variations of turd wrapped in burned cheese sauce, and the Lincoln Norm's sort of smells like urine and bleach, and there's no real reason for any human being to go to Norm's except for, say, that it's 2 or 3 in the morning and you need a place to sit and talk and perhaps let the alcohol leach out of your system, which happens perhaps more often than is healthy for me.
But: for no apparent reason, decent apple pie. I'd say, decent plus. Actually good. Verging on quite good.
I'm betting they just hooked into some good local distributor for apple pie, because it's about 12 times better than anything else there.
This is completely unimportant except for those people who, like me, are often up at 2 AM and like apple pie more than they should.
