Last night my wife and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary at I@LW and came away very impressed. The food, the service and the ambiance were all "on."
Chef O'Connell is really showing off Summer's bounty right now.
After the cheese crisps and the mandatory amusee (Salmon Roulade, "BLT", Puff Pastry Puttanesca, Smoked Trout, Crab Imperial and Ham Sandwich), we were presented with a basket of perfectly tender Tempura Squash Blossoms in an Asian dipping sauce (Nam Pla, Rice Wine Vinegar, Garlic and Cilantro would be my guess). The soup was a cold Watermelon / Tequila concoction that was very subtle and set up our palettes for the main event: the Tasting Menu.

Sorrell Jelly w/ Lemon Cream and Osetra Caviar
Grilled Prawns in a Mango Mint Salsa
Pecan Encrusted Tempura Soft-shell Crab with Mustard Fruit
Sesame Encrusted Chilean Sea Bass with Silver Queen Corn Succotash
Braised Veal Cheeks with Virginia Ham Raviolis and Baby Asparagus
Ginger Pannacotta with Passion Fruit Granite
Chocolate Mint Fantasy (Semi-sweet Chocolate Ribbons on a bed of Fresh Mint Ice-cream)
The sorrell jelly, silver queen corn and the fresh mint ice cream really stand out - all three were like spooning little bits of summer into your mouth.
Everything was very well prepared and served with their trademark well-choreographed service.
