I just moved to the area (wilshire center) and find myself in the midst of an amazing ethnic mish-mosh of salvadorean/guatamalan to the north, filipino to the east, korean to the west and generally southwest ... but directly south, there appears to be just a tinge of Indian (South Asian).
I've seen women in saris and kurta/is walking down the streets, as well as a string of groceries inc. businesses that appear to have been formerly Indian (retaining the original name on sign, now belonging to a different owner).
Just to keep this food related, I intend to scout a little further into the area, including the food counters at said establishments. There was a tiny Indian grocery at 3rd and Edgemont that had an interesting set up and signs indicating tasty delights, but unfortunately it was too early for food.
However, I'm wondering if anyone knows the history of South Asians /Indians in the mid-Wilshire area.
