This past Saturday, I went on a double dinner date to Incanto in Noe Valley. On Citysearch, Incanto describes their cuisine as Italian with a California twist, but in my opinion, their food is really is just your standard California cuisine, like Bacar's.
Overall, the experience left much to be desired. The service was slow as our waiter was unattentive. Our appetizers (bruschetta, porcini soup) were slightly above average. Our main courses (steak, halibut, lamb shank) were good, but not spectactular. My steak was flavorful, but the presentation was average. Dessert was by far the worst part of the evening. The selection seemed enticing enough. We had the olive oil cake out of curiousity and the flourless chocolate torte. Both looked and tasted like they came from the Bell Market nearby! The olive oil cake tasted like angel food cake and the chocolate torte tasted like a brownie.
This restaurant supposedly opened two weeks ago, so they are probably still working out the bugs. If you decide to give this restaurant a try, don't order the dessert until they've hired their pastry chef.
