Last weekend my sis, galpal and myself discovered 4 ladies selling tamales and pork products out of heated shopping carts on Roosevelt ave around Junction Blvd.
They sell two kinds of tamales. One is wrapped in a Banana leaf and is savory, with eggs, chicken and peas and carrots. The other is sweet and wrapped in Corn Husk. they also sell two kinds of pork out of theese carts. one is a red pork that seems to be covered in chili, and the other are little braised riblets. They also sell a mixture of Corn with Fava beans. They also sell what appears to be some kind of Blood Sausage. We tried the tamales from 2 different carts and they were delicious, yet very different. I would like to know what region or country theese ladies were from. i will go back in the near future to try all the carts and do an in-depth comparison of their wares.BTW, the little sweet tamales are great, one of them was creamy , as if it had milk in it...?
Anyhoo, support the woman selling cool grub from theese carts
Jason
