Imminent Drive-In Demise

On 7/11 the Cozy Drive-In on Route 46 in Netcong
will close. A bare-bones old school drive-in with carhop service open since 1952. The place is in the Sterns' current ROADFOOD. Went there for the first and probably last time. Field report: Very good texas weiner with great sauce, tasty cheese steak with the works, uniquely made with formed beef and pepper, onion, mushroom saute. Good veggie-burger (ask for it royale -- lett & tom). Fries good. Fried mushrooms a bit stale-tasting. Cole slaw excellent. Lubricated with lip-smacking red birch beer. If you're in the area check it out...it's a soon-to-be extinct example of mid-20th century American culture and feeding habits in the Pre-Supersized Era.
