There is a new chef at Il Palio now that Adam Rose has moved to Straw Valley (and boy, can I not wait to get there once the food starts happening). We have been a few times since he left, first a few times during the transition period, and now since the new guy has settled in. They've taken lots of favorites off the menu (that gravalax, the caprese salad with burrata, the tagliatelle tartufo). Right now the menu is very small. There were 4 pastas and 4 mains, and maybe 6 appetizers. Apparently he is adamant about cooking only with things that are seasonal, which means once the produce starts coming in the menu should get longer. But I have to say, not much appealed to me on the menu, and the tuna I got as my main was overcooked the first time (so much so that I sent it back - I'd asked for it rare and it was like tuna from a can - white all the way through). I'm guessing he'll get his sea legs, but since I've been such a vocal fan of the place I wanted people to know it isn't really the same restaurant it was 6 months ago. Hoping and assuming that it will become great again soon.
