Ice cream snowballs at remarkable Raleys

OK, a few years ago someone was trying to find those snowballs covered with coconut. There were no sightings. I remember this because I love those things. Well, I don't know if ALL Raleys carry them, but the one in Benecia does. So if you have a craving for these, there you go.

I also don't know if all Raleys are this terrific, but I am in love with this store for the sheer selection.

Safeway and group may have super stores, but that rarely translates into superselection. It usually just means more of the same type of products in the store.

Raley in Benecia has varieties I have never seen before. Every Pepperidge Farm cookie made must be there including sugarless Pepperidge Farm. Who knew.

Also there is one fine organic grocery/vitamin section including a major freezer case.

So I was thinking, if anyone has ice cream snowballs, it would be this place. Voila .. in the freezer case across from the yogurt.

I would say the meat/cheese/fish section doesn't rise above, but equals the Safeway type of groceries.

I am guessing the deli is standard for Raleys. IMO, it is better than Safeway, but not up to a Cala Foods or Andronico standard. They have seven types of potato salad including one with blue cheese.

I'm really impressed with the staff with this store also. Very nice and helpful.

Even when I'm not in the area, I may make the trek up here when I have major shopping to do because of the variety.
