I haven't been this interested in a new NY restaurant like BLT Steak in a while. And, hurray, I secured a soft opening reservation at BLT Steak tonight! :) How exciting (I may not report for a while, because I believe in trying to better understand Tourondel's work before making a very informed report on the cuisine of a chef whose cuisine I have liked very much in the past).

Gayot reports that: "Laurent Tourondel (Cello) will be opening his namesake Bistro Laurent Tourondel, BLT Steak, on March 9. In addition to nine cuts of prime grilled steaks, the menu will include dishes like three tiered seafood tower, mushroom soup with truffle sabayon, brick oven roast lamb, and butterscotch bread pudding.... (212) 752-7470." At least the seafood tower reference is helpful, in demonstrating that steak might not be too heavily focused on in the menu. As discussed among members a while ago, though, why would a celebrated seafood specialist start a restaurant with significant grilled steaks and with the name "BLT Steak"? :9
