Had a late lunch yesterday of a carne asada/steak taco with salsa negra, which was your typically sized soft taco with just those two ingredients. Meat had been on the grill longer than I would have liked, yet the salsa was quite good. They are $2 each or 3 for $5, where your protein can be either chicken, steak, grilled fish, soy chorizo/potato/zucchini, or Zucchini/corn/string beans. Salsas are 7 and can be combined any way you prefer: Pico de gallo, Jalapeno & Tomatillo, cruda, honey chipotle, negra, habanero or arbol.
Also had a taco de canasta for $2.75, which they describe as a large deep fried tortilla, filled with vegetarian chorizo, potato and zucchini. Served with Pico de gallo, lettuce, cheese and choice of salsa, which I opted to have them add more pico de gallo. Burned the taco shell a bit, and their definition of large means regular, and no more.
Had order #166 at 3p.m., and so many had been there before me, and many were there while I was there. Steady stream of folks, yet the parking on site is dicey and the neighboring tenants are already concerned about the unusually high number of cars on the lot. Park near Mazzarinos on Riverside and walk would be my advice.
