I checked it out as I am here on business. I took public transit from downtown which functioned properly.
I thought the food was average at best despite being rated Best of Houston recently. The har gao was blah: it didn't snap and burst with fresh rice flavor as it should. The green vegetable was overcooked. The tofu wrapped thing was made Friday, possibly Thursday. However, the chicken feet were some of the best I've had as were the steamed roast pork dumplings with the quail eggs on top.
That said, service was decent despite what some have posted about it. I was alone and I read the Sunday paper.
Next time, I'll try the Ocean Palace down the street (Bellaire Ave).
Based on a sample of one highly recommended dim sum place, Houston is lagging in my world dim sum rankings for cities outdside Asia as follows:
10. Washington, D.C. (should be better, but nobody cares)
11. Rest of Europe excluding the UK
We'll see if they can move up next weekend.
