house of tibet review

Went to this lil' place in Somerville last night, after wanting to try it for awhile now. We and one other couple were the only people there - wonder if it ever gets more full? Anyway, split the appetizer that was a tasting of all 4 types of appetizers, fried tofu was just fried tofu; Potato pancakes were crispy outside soft inside; Spring-roll type thing had fresh cabbage in it; And a squiggly-looking thing was long shreds of onions and also cabbage battered and fried. Good little bites enhanced by the hot chile/onion sauce on the side. Sort of like a simple chutney, but spicy. For dinner also shared a mixed plate on the specials list, it was all dumplings, which I didn't realize when ordering. Good but too much of the same thing - for a reference point, they were like the dumplings you get at dim sum - some with ground meat, some with veggies, some with tofu. Not greasy at all though.
I can't imagine having a craving for this food, but it's definitely worth a try and it's very cheap. 18$ for two to eat and be quite full.
