Hong Kong dumpling / dessert crawl: suggested itineraries?

Hello HK Chowhounders!

My husband and I will be spending two weeks in Hong Kong, June 6-June 20, and two of the things we definitely want to do are a dumpling crawl and a dessert crawl.

I know there are plenty of threads on the board about "best" dumplings and "best" desserts, but we're really not looking for Michelin-rated eateries. We've been living in Africa for the past year, and normally live in Boston (if you peruse the Boston board, you will find the many complaints about the lack of a decent patisserie), so we are really just looking for a variety of delicious, affordable desserts and dumplings.

Particularly, please advise on where the greatest density of good dumpling places and good dessert places would be, and what would be your suggested itinerary for hitting up the great spots?

1) For the dumpling crawl: We are speaking broadly about dumplings - fried jiaozi, wonton noodles, xiaolongbao, funguo - anything! What would be a good itinerary (places within walking distance of each other)? We don't mind walking a lot!

2) For the dessert crawl: We are looking for both Asian and Western desserts, and a variety of dessert types would be nice (Cantonese bakery, black sesame soup, decadent chocolate mousse cake/French-style pastries, frozen yogurt/mango desserts, etc.). What area of the city has a high concentration of good dessert places, and what would be your suggested itinerary?

Thanks so much! We are very much looking forward to our eating adventures!
