Homemade Mexican in Niantic, CT

The former Botchis Pizza and Grinder is now re-opened with a delicious Mexican menu. We met the new proprietor, Abel who personally fixed our meal. We had the Chicken Enchiladas with mole sauce - exquisite! Great salsa, too. His mom's recipe for homemade Horchata was great. Also highly recommended is the rice pudding for dessert.

There was no wait staff when we showed up mid-week, Abel did it all. He is in the process of hiring and training staff for summer.

After living in Los Angeles for 10 years we can truthfully say that this is some of the best mexican food we've ever had. Very fresh, very authentic. The prices were very reasonable. A plate of enchiladas with rice and beans was around 7.50.

They may be changing the name (possibly to Conquistador), but you can find it a short block off Main St. at Pattagansett Rd & Hope St. It is right across from Niantic Center School. (About 10 minutes off I-95 at exits 72 or 74)

By the way, they still serve the Botchis Pizza and Grinder menu. We can vouch for the Genoa Grinder - top quality.
