hey guys i have a strange question I'm hoping I can get some answers to! i made some home-made breakfast burritos with home-made refried beans, home-made spanish rice, some pork sausage, fried eggs, home-made guacamole (i put this IN the burrito, not as a side), cheese, and some cilantro as garnish.
since some of the ingredients had come from the fridge (i have been making this for the past few days so some of the ingredients, for example the sausage, had already been made previously and stored in the fridge) i heated the burrito in the oven, wrapped in some foil. for some strange reason it tasted like i was eating pesto, just straight pesto! i could taste for example the flour tortilla but i couldn't for the life of me figure out what was causing it.
it seemed to be the guacamole after going thru and testing each ingredient in my mouth.. it was just a standard home-made guacamole with some onions, tomatoes, coriander, lime juice, lots of garlic, salt, pepper, cilantro...
when i tasted the guacamole that hadn't been heated yet it tasted like regular guacamole but for some reason the heated guac tasted like pesto?? does anyone know why this would be and how to prevent this in the future? i thought guac could be heated, and the hard part is it would be hard to heat the whole burrito minus the guac and then open it all up again and throw the cold guac in... so i'm not sure how to go about this???
thank you guys very much for the time taken to respond and help out!! it's the craziest thing :) ahaaa... ok have a good one :)
