Just had an absolutely horrid experience at a little place in Hollywood, Florida, called JP Bistro. When we visited a couple of years ago, it was a reasonable dairy/pizza restaurant. Now they've chopped off most of the restaurant area and turned it into a Glatt Kosher Tex-Mex place. Personally, I'm not a Tex-Mex fan, but that isn't the issue.
We made the mistake of going, with one of our daughters and three grandchildren, into what's left of the pizza place.
For starters, the place still advertises on the Internet Italian dishes such as Lasagna, and had a current coupon of buy one dinner, get a free one for a child. Well, they didn't have ANY of the dinners advertised and seemed at a loss as to what a free one for a kid should be - so they offered up a slice of pizza and a few measly fries.
Second - when our dinner (actually no more than sandwiches) arrived, in order to do netilat yadaim we had to go OUT of the restaurant onto the sidewalk and then INTO the Tex-Mex fleishig side.
Third - I'm still livid at the outrageous price charged for a 25 cent bottle of water (a glass of water would have been fine, but they didn't have any glasses).
Fourth - No air conditioning, or if there was it wasn't working right. Somewhere in the 90s that day.
Fifth - the Pizza the kids got really wasn't that good.
Sixth - they still had tuna melt on the adult "dinner" menu, but said they couldn't serve it because the tuna they got was certified by the OU, so it isn't acceptable.
Seventh - when the check came, they offered only TWO children's dinners for free because, they said, our 24 year old daughter was a child and if one child ordered an adult dinner it didn't mean you got a free dinner for the six year old. When we pointed out that she was 24, an ADULT, they ARGUED with us, and even called the owner on the phone!.
All I can say is that, if anyone's tempted to go to this place - STAY AWAY.
P.S. - For desert we took our children to a frozen yogurt place. They loved it.
