Best Holiday Food Outings in the Bay Area?? (Tea, hot chocolate, festive restaurants, etc.)

Have family coming for the Holidays. A first in many, many years! (usually we have to go to Southern Calif. which is not my preference) Since we don't have kids ourselves yet ...generally, we do the travelling.

So, would love to show them some of the best the Bay Area has to offer, to put one in the holiday/Christmas spirit! :-)

Thinking of trying a tea w/some of my nieces & mom who is 81 (& a local). We did tea at the Fairmont for my mom's 80th & it was really good & all very fresh. (great for vegetarians, too...lots of nice options)

Heard them say back then that they also do a Gingerbread Tea during the holidays that's popular. Has anyone here done that?

Anyone done tea at the Palace lately?
Comparisons welcome! I know the Palace is a more spectacular setting for tea. But, just wondering how you'd rate it otherwise?

Lastly, if any other places pop to mind, please share. I'd just really like to 'do it up' & 'play' this year in the City. (or anywhere locally) Thinking of ice skaing at the Embarcadero w/the kids. (unless you have another fave spot for that, too) Oops! Off topic there. Not food-related.
ALTHOUGH I *was* wondering if there's a nice hot chocolate atmospheric spot to go to, after ice skating with them? Anywhere near the Ferry Building?

Ever done Hot Chocolate at Ghiradelli? Again, I haven't probably been there since I was 20...a long time ago. ;-) I'd just like some great food options for my family (including kids)
that are also really festive spots to go during December. Thanks so much for any ideas! (We're located on the Peninsula, btw. So, either the City or Peninsula or Coast would be our preference.)
